This article addresses the debate over the use of historical evidence in China's territorial claims over islands in the South China Sea and argues that those supporting these claims have failed to put forward convincing arguments to prove their case. The author suggests that those supporting China's case need to provide proof of actual acts of sovereignty related to the islands under dispute demonstrated by agents of governments.
