This book summarizes key issues discussed at a conference on the reasoning behind, and the options for Australia’s replacement of the Collins class submarine fleet. Additional articles discuss 1) the myriad of capability, commercial and industrial issues which have to be managed as part of the project; 2) the role the future submarines might play in alliance operations with the US; and 3) regional submarine capabilities and the operation of Australia’s submarines in an increasingly contested environment.
