This paper examines US policy toward the Middle East as well as US ties to countries within the region and the relations of these nations with one another. Overall, the author criticizes the nature of US policy in the Middle East which, according to him, is leading to a loss of US influence in the region. He also addresses the impact that the US military bases in Qatar and Bahrain have on the ability of Washington to act in the region and argues that it would be better if the US relocated these bases elsewhere.
