This two-article report focuses on the Arms Trade Treaty's (ATT) imminent enforcement, which is scheduled for 24 December 2014. More specifically, the first article highlights the strong political support the ATT still enjoys and explains the idea behind the first Conference of States Parties. The second article then stresses the reasons why it is in China's ultimate interest to sign the treaty. (The reasons include combating terrorism, preventing arms transfers to non-state actors, establishing a 'level playing field' for different industries, and helping to promote stable political environments and China’s global role.)
