This brief examines the prospects of future cooperation between European arms producers and their Indian peers. After assessing existing licensed-production agreements, joint venture agreements and offset contracts between the two, the author also points to the limits of this cooperation. He argues that despite positive signs, Europe is unlikely to recover its once-dominant position as the leading arms supplier to India; and concludes with a series of recommendations for both the European and Indian arms producers.
