This commentary provides an overview of a dispute within the Malaysian Islamist Party (PAS) in 2014, when one of its opposition coalition partners, the People's Justice Party (PKR) attempted to replace its Chief Minister in Selangor state. The author argues that the future of the opposition alliance now depends on how this turmoil within the Islamist party is resolved.
