This commentary examines Singapore’s responses to potential maritime terrorist threats. The authors argue that due to Singapore’s position as a hub for maritime trade and industries, it requires distinct initiatives to mitigate potential threats by terrorist organizations, which have manifested more strongly with the emergence of new actors around South and Southeast Asia such as the Islamic State (IS) and Al Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS) in 2014.
