This commentary examines the activities of the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM), a forum consisting of 51 European and Asian countries created to deepen political, economic and cultural relations. The authors argue that although some inefficiencies still characterize the system of the ASEM, it works reasonably well in furthering the forum's main aims.
