This commentary discusses some of the challenges that face Afghanistan's President Ashraf Ghani following his inauguration in September 2014, including the weakness of the economy and the resurgence of the Taliban insurgency in the country. The author also discusses the need for Ghani to build a strong government to ensure good governance and the implementation of economic reforms in the country as well as concerns in the area of foreign relations.
