This issue of JEMIE includes articles which focus on the politics of language and minority rights. In particular topics examine 1) how the categorization of French North Africans in France affects their capacity to integrate into the country's society; 2) the politics of language in Belarus; 3) the place of the Chuvash language in the education system in Chuvashia in Russia; 4) the implementation of minority rights in Kosovo; 5) and the development of anti-war activism in Croatia during the country's war of independence in the early 1990s. The issue also includes a commentary on the German speaking language minority in Poland as well as a book review.
