This issue looks at foreign fighters across the world who join the terrorist organization Islamic State (IS) and examines Turkey's ambiguous policies towards IS in 2014. More specifically, it includes articles on 1) what motivates foreign fighters who travel to the battlefields of Syria and Iraq to fight for IS; 2) the threat posed by the return of such foreign fighters to Australia; and 3) the release of Turkish hostages by IS.
