This brief provides an overview of the security situation in Pakistan after the November 2014 terrorist attack on the town of Wagah, near the Pakistan-India border. The author contends that if Pakistan is to effectively fight extremism and prevent youths from joining radical organizations, it has to focus on education, improving the quality of government and providing young people with appropriate employment opportunities.
