This paper discusses the implications of shale gas extraction in the US for the Gulf States. The authors particularly focus on how the shale gas boom in the US has provided the country with increased energy security and how this may impact the economies and politics of the Gulf States. They also present recommendations for Germany and Europe on how to deal with the changes to the global gas market caused by the shale gas revolution.
