This paper examines the Russian nuclear industry’s demand for natural uranium, its sources of supply and the legal framework that regulates the use of nuclear materials in Russia. The authors argue that Moscow’s increased presence in the global nuclear energy market is leading to an increase in the domestic nuclear industry’s transparency in order to comply with the domestic legislation of other countries, including those producing natural uranium.
