This paper examines the US' expectations of its allies - Japan, Australia and South Korea - as it shifts its strategic focus towards the Asia-Pacific region. The paper also considers 1) how these countries supported American interests in the past, 2) what benefits Australia might accrue in supporting the US shift, and 3) what Canberra can actually do to provide the US with additional support.
