This paper discusses how the Gulf Cooperation Council can draw inspiration from The South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) on regional economic, political and security cooperation. The author also examines the GCC's ties with countries such as China and Iran and takes stock of the extent of economic and security cooperation in the GCC, 30 years after its creation.
