This memorandum examines the political and economic feasibility of an agreement between Turkey and Israel over the export of Israeli natural gas to Turkey. In particular, the author looks at 1) Turkey's place in the regional gas market and its natural gas import and energy policy; 2) Ankara's general political and economic outlook; 3) the tensions that exist between Turkey and Israel; and 4) the potential advantages to both countries of establishing a natural gas deal. The author also provides recommendations for Israel on how to secure an agreement on exports of natural gas to Turkey.
