This report looks at the volatile political situation in Nigeria and recommends ways to prevent election-related violence up through February 2015. In accomplishing these ends, the report examines 1) the growing acrimony between the ruling People's Democratic Party and the opposition All Progressive Congress; 2) how competing claims over the country's presidency – between northern leaders and their Niger Delta counterparts – are aggravating tensions; and 3) how the Boko Haram insurgency could threaten the conduct of peaceful and credible elections.
