This report assesses the costs and potential benefits of acquiring the F-35B multirole fighter jet as part of Australia's 2015 Defense White Paper. The authors contend that the benefits would be marginal at best and not commensurate with the costs for the Australian Defense Force. They also conclude that the acquisition of the aircraft would potentially divert funding and attention from more valuable force structure enhancements.
