This monograph examines the security architecture of the Asia Pacific and proposes the development of an inclusive security system for the region that would enable each nation to contribute to regional stability. The author also examines 1) the scale of the military build-up in the Asia-Pacific and the reasons for it; 2) the military capabilities of China and the US, the influence of the two countries in Asia Pacific and how this could change in the future; 3) the role of other countries in the security architecture of the region; and 4) how to accommodate a rising China in the regional security architecture.
