This text examines the near-term strategies different countries have adopted to cope with socio-political instability, and what these strategies might mean for the EU's foreign policy. (Note: The countries include the US, Russia, China, India, Kazakhstan, Iran, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Egypt.) The text's authors conclude that most of the strategies aren't particularly well-defined, which means the EU will need to 1) take a firm stand when its interests are at stake, and 2) adopt new approaches in working with other global power centers.
