This paper examines the legacy of King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia following his death in January 2015 as well as what can be expected in terms of foreign, energy and economic policy from his successor, King Salman. The author also examines some of the main challenges that will face King Salman in the future, including those related to the rise of the Islamic State (IS), Iran, oil policy and domestic reform.
