This publication focuses on ways to combat narcotrafficking in post-ISAF Afghanistan. In doing so, its authors 1) look back (i.e., they review how the Soviet's withdrawal from the country in the late 1980s impacted narcotrafficking); 2) they look at how Afghanistan's current economic, political and security contexts shape the drug trade; and 3) they explore alternative narcotrafficking scenarios that might play themselves out in the future.
