This paper examines how Southeast Asian states interested in acquiring nuclear energy can benefit from the experience of other states which have already acquired this capability. The author argues that international frameworks on independent nuclear safety regulatory bodies, training of a workforce dedicated to nuclear energy generation, and nuclear waste management all provide useful lessons for the countries which are planning to generate nuclear energy.
