This paper provides an overview of the political situation in Yemen, following the resignation of the president and government in 2015 and the subsequent violent rise of the Houthis, a rebel movement from northern Yemen. The author argues that Germany and its European partners must urge all parties to the conflict to find a political solution, in an effort to counteract the ongoing fragmentation of the state and prevent further escalation of violence.
