In December 2014, a video was posted by an Indonesian foreign fighter for the Islamic State (IS) in which he threatened to bring the armed struggle in Iraq and Syria back to Indonesia. This paper examines what Indonesia can learn from its previous handling of foreign fighters who returned from the Afghan and Mindanao battlefront in order to deal with this new threat.
