Publication

This publication examines the nature, use and effectiveness of sanctions. More specifically, it 1) identifies the ways in which UN targeted sanctions support peacebuilding; 2) concludes that peace mediation processes and sanctions are not inherently contradictory; and 3) recommends ways that the UN can improve its coordinated use of these tools.
