This issue includes articles on 1) Kazakhstan's relations with Russia following the establishment of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) in January 2015; 2) the promotion of economic integration in South and Central Asia by the US through its New Silk Road initiative; 3) the implications of a potential gas pipeline through Turkey and how it could compete with the Trans-Caspian pipeline; and 4) the CASA-1000 project, which aims to export electricity from Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan to Afghanistan and Pakistan.
