This report examines France’s policy towards the Indian Ocean, its strategic interests in the region and partnership with India. The author also highlights the interests that France has in the Indian Ocean due to its overseas territories in the region. In general, the author contends that while France’s partnership with India has been positive for the country, it has not yet met Paris’ expectations of its potential. However, she also contends that the two countries could work together to further their interests and security in the region, and provides recommendations on how this could be achieved.
