This paper looks at the development of Sino-Brazilian relations and the reasons for China’s growing influence in the Americas. The author contends that 1) the Sino-Brazilian strategic partnership will likely produce significant changes in the balance of power in the region, and 2) that pragmatism and realism will increasingly guide the relationship. This paper concludes that despite some tensions, ties between the two countries will grow stronger in the coming years.
