This paper examines the impact that Myanmar's political transition has had on its relations with China as well as Beijing's response to the challenges the transition has created for bilateral ties. The author contends that although a return to the previous strong bilateral ties between the two countries may appear inconceivable in the near future, there is still hope for them if China adapts its policy to keep up with the changes in Naypyidaw over the long term.
