This commentary outlines the challenges and opportunities created for the Pacific Alliance (PA) - a regional body consisting of Mexico, Colombia, Peru and Chile - by its potential development of closer ties with ASEAN following the inauguration of an ASEAN-PA institutional relationship in late 2014. The author also discusses the approaches to trade negotiations as well as the shared interests of the PA and ASEAN.
