This paper discusses the implementation of the EU’s Energy Union package and the objectives of the EU's energy policy, notably the integration of the internal energy market and strengthening the security of energy supplies from outside of the Union. The author argues that in order to implement the Energy Union, the EU will have to create an adequate governance mechanism, and address different national priorities and potential conflicts between the European Commission and member states.
