This commentary discusses the strategic shifts and realignment of alliances being undertaken by the Gulf states due to their concerns about the continued reliability of the US as the region’s ultimate security guarantor in light of the P5+1 nuclear negotiations with Iran. The author also discusses the opportunities for China to increase its relations with the region in light of these changes.
