This paper provides an overview of three possible options to expand coordinated counter-piracy sea patrols in Southeast Asia. These include 1) the creation of an ASEAN-led maritime force for counter-piracy; 2) the granting of observer status to Myanmar in the Malacca Strait Patrols (MSP) counter-piracy initiative; and 3) the introduction of coordinated counter-piracy patrols east of the Singapore Strait.
