This paper looks at the debates on national security in both Finland and Sweden that have been prompted by the crisis in eastern Ukraine and Russia’s military activity in the Baltic Sea region. The authors also examine what both countries can do to increase defense cooperation, including further cooperation with NATO as well as expanding the EU's Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP) and Swedish-Finnish bilateral military ties.
