This brief discusses the US “Cooperative Strategy for 21st Century Seapower” (CS-21R), a revised version of the country's maritime strategy that was released in March 2015. In particular, the author analyzes the implications of the document for US strategy in the Asia-Pacific and countries in the region. He suggests that the most notable aspect of the revised strategy is its clear recognition of China’s maritime expansion and territorial claims as a source of regional unrest.
