This commentary argues for the need to recognize the political roots and nature of political violence so as to address its underlying causes. The author also suggests that this means that political violence should not be demonized by being described as evil or as terrorism as this only complicates the search for the problems that underlie this violence and can serve the interests and appeal of those who make use of it.
