This commentary discusses what Bangladesh and Myanmar should do to mitigate the problem of human trafficking from their borders to Southeast Asia. In general, the author argues that to tackle this problem, Bangladesh and Myanmar should build up their institutional capacities and address the socioeconomic causes that are driving vulnerable populations into the hands of human smuggling syndicates.
