This paper examines how the instability in the Middle East is affecting China's policy toward the region, arguing that it is compelling Beijing to reconsider its long-standing principle of non-interventionism in order to protect its interests. The author also discusses the problems that China faces in attempting to formulate a policy for the Middle East that does not lead to an increase in tensions with the US or Beijing being sucked further into the problems of the region.
