This brief discusses some of the issues which are likely to play a part in Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit to China, South Korea and Mongolia in May 2015. These include economic cooperation as well as cross-border trade and tourism, all of which are in line with Modi’s ‘Act East’ policy, which aims to bring India into the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum. The brief also elaborates on some of the other ways in which Modi is attempting to reach out beyond India, for example to diaspora groups.
