This brief looks at the reporting practices of UN member states, specifically on how they're implementing small arms control measures as defined by the 2001 Programme of Action on Small Arms (PoA) and the International Tracing Instrument (ITI). Among other things, the trends show that 1) a significant number of these states - 163 of 193 - have submitted at least one national report on PoA and ITI implementation since the PoA's adoption; 2) the rate of reporting has decreased since 2008; and 3) the region with the highest level of reporting is Europe, with the lowest being Oceania.
