This report examines the state of health governance of vector-borne diseases, such as dengue fever, in Southeast Asia. More specifically, the authors 1) discuss regional health governance in ASEAN and the mechanisms and frameworks that have been established to promote health security in the region; 2) the health governance systems of Indonesia and Malaysia; and 3) the economic burden created by dengue fever in the region and the specific measures that have been implemented to deal with the disease. They also provide recommendations for Southeast Asian states on how to improve efforts that seek to prevent and control dengue fever.
