This paper examines the impact of the 2009 Lisbon Treaty on the EU's Common Security and Defence Policy (CDSP). More specifically, the author looks at how the introduction of new bodies such as the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and the External Action Service, has significantly strengthened the EU framework for conducting a common defense policy. She then focuses on how Danish foreign and security policy, especially the country's opt-out on European defense cooperation, has been affected by the changes to the CSDP.
