This commentary discusses the possible implications for international security of North Korea’s apparent development of Submarine-Launched Ballistic Missiles (SLBMs), along with new submarines for firing these missiles. The author also examines some of the options available to South Korea (ROK) in terms of acquiring or developing anti-submarine warfare (ASW) systems to counter North Korean SLBMs and submarines.
