The ideology of the so-called Islamic State's (IS) centers on establishing a "Caliphate" as a powerful lure for global Muslims to seek salvation by emigrating there. This commentary argues that the Muslim community in secular countries in Asia and Europe needs to develop a strong counter-narrative arguing that the set up the Islamic State is not a religious obligation and that the "Caliphate" is not relevant in today’s world. The author then briefly explains how the Muslim community in Singapore has made efforts to do this.
