This paper examines the roles which China and Russia are likely to play in the future peace and stability of countries in Central Asia. More specifically, it provides an overview of the conflict issues and dynamics affecting the region, including among others, economic problems, organized crime, and border management. It then looks at the various ways in which Russia and China interact with the countries of Central Asia as well as how the shifting relations between these two powers might affect the prospects for peace and stability of the region.
