This text summarizes the findings of SIPRI’s Yearbook 2015. As in the past, the Yearbook provides original data on world military expenditures, international arms transfers, arms production rates, the size and composition of nuclear forces, the involvement of states in armed conflicts, and the number of multilateral peace operations in 2014. Ultimately, the 2015 Yearbook echoes the tentative conclusion reached in the 2014 edition – i.e., the positive trend over the last decade towards decreased levels of violence and more effective conflict management has been broken.
