This report examines what the Australian Defence Force (ADF) must do if it hopes to have an appropriate amphibious warfare (AW) capability in the future. More specifically, the report’s authors look at 1) how AW supports Australia's current defense strategy; 2) where this capability might be needed in the future, particularly in the Indo-Pacific region; 3) and how the ADF is currently developing its amphibious capabilities, the shortfalls inherent in its approach, and what really needs to be done in order to field effective next-step AW capabilities.
