This paper discusses the security implications for Thailand and Southeast Asia of the influx of Uighur refugees coming to the region from China. These include 1) that some of the refugees may be using Southeast Asia as a way to travel to fight in Syria and Iraq; 2) that Uighur militants who may deliberately come to Southeast Asia posing as refugees to link up with others militants in the region; 3) that these refugees may be radicalized and recruited by Islamist militant groups in the region; and 4) problems related to the increased strains that the incoming Uighur may place on Thailand's refugee camps.
